Because you never know when you will end up in the hospital's ER.
It was the second time it happened. I was running for the bus. The first time it happened was last Friday. That time--I was chasing the train. I don't know what is it nowadays with me and public transportation. It is getting to be an unhealthy habit.
As I said, I was running for the bus, when suddenly, I felt a pain so strong it brought instant tears to my eyes. I tried very hard not to collapse in front of the bus to avoid giving an impression that I might be trying to commit suicide. There was a burning sensation, and at the same time a near-frozen sensation, with prickles all over my toes and right ankle. The burning sensation shot up right at the back of my thigh up to my lower derrieri.
It happened just like last Friday, right when I was about to reach some other public transportation. I made a decision, no matter how hard it was gonna be, I was gonna get an appointment with my GP. TODAY! As soon as I told the nurse what happened, we laughed--Did you catch the bus? she asked me. Anyway, in between laughs, she told me that I am an ER case, so go straight to the ER.
Which I did. By BUS, believe me you guys. The waiting time was nearly 2 hours, with me limping all the way. I did get an ice pack from the nurse, though. After an hour passed. And after a diagnosis from the doctor (actually, I think he was a physiotherapist), he confirmed that there was no broken bones, and no misplaced tendons. It looked like I stretched my muscles way beyond any possible earthly usage.
I now have my right foot bandaged, and I have to use a cane. For as long as I need it. With a message that if it happens again, I should call an ambulance and head straight to the ER.
My project tomorrow: To decorate my cane so that it looks as fancy as possible! (Style matters.)

We have been back from Italy for a week now. The house is still a disaster site. The upstairs, at least. No matter; I'm sleeping downstairs for the time being.
